La Cerdanya is one of the widest valleys in Europe, where its minimum altitude of 1000 m and its orientation from east to west stand out, which gives it a high insolation of the about 3,000 hours of sunshine a year. With the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park, on the southern slope, and the Areas of Natural Interest of Tossa Plana de Lles-Puigpedrós, the Tossals d ‘Isòvol and Olopte, Riu Duran, Riu de la Llosa and Riberes de l ‘Alt Segre, almost 40% of the surface is protected.
