Kayaks & Summits offers kayaking, walking and mountain biking excursions.
Kayak excursions take place in calm waters in Oliana’s Reservoir. Within this modality there are 3 formulas: the guided excursion, the cruise and rental.
We do hiking and mountain biking excursions throughout the Alt Urgell region and part of La Cerdanya. They may or may not include the rental of Nordic walking poles or bikes.
On the page: www.kayaksandsummits.com you can see the conditions and what the kayak and mountain bike formulas consist of. There are also specific hiking proposals, grouped by half-day or full-day excursions.
What all the activities have in common is that they are a very complete mix of sport, experience of nature, culture and discovery. We accompany the client in the correct execution of the technique, either by kayak, Nordic Walking or mountain bike. In addition, these are the means that allow the client to move autonomously in a wild and different natural environment.
All excursions include some attractions, such as the gorge, a tributary of the Segre, a peak, a chapel, a century-old tree, flora, fauna, altitude conditions, orientation, climate, soil, human influence, etc.., which gives rise to comments and to deepen or to do a little of environmental education, of history…
The client contact us directly or through accommodations. There are also group prices and a kayak activity aimed at school groups as apart of their school outing and at groups of children joining summer camps like those in Coll de Nargó and Organyà. Kayaks & Summits also has its own ATB summercamp
We board near Coll de Nargó, just where the River Segre turns into Oliana’s Reservoir. We start with a brief exercise to familiarise ourselves with the basic material and technique.
We get started: Simply to take advantage of the great extent of navigable water, to practice exercises, following the instructions, or for a longer excursion and even to reach hidden places. We plan the route based on the weather, your level, or on what you’re eager to do.
We can visit the mouth of the Sallent and take a small exploration on foot there, or pass through the Esplovins Gorge. The rocky and vertical landscape, and the silence that reigns here, impresses and makes us feel small…
We make a break on a beach you can only approach by kayak. After a drink and a bite, the wind, if there is any, will help us on the return. There is the possibility, if the weather is hot, to bathe.
The kayaks are safe and stable, and suitable for 1, 2, 3 or 4 people.
The excursion includes: kayak, paddle, life vest, civil liability and accidents insurance and accompanying, licensed guide.
With reservation, includes the ‘drink and bite’ as well: a kind of cake, coffee and tea, or watermelon, depending on the weather.
The client should bring a swimsuit or spare clothing, flip flops or old sneakers and a towel.
You will be given a waterproof storage for bringing for example; your cellphone, keys, a piece of clothing, something to drink or eat.

FULL DAY EXCURSION
Climbing mountain peaks.
We get up early, ready for an adventure. With the coolness and serenity of the morning you climb better and without sweating. When the sun is higher and burning harder we have already gained a few hundred meters of elevation gain and we are in a relatively cool place. It also guarantees us weather stability and good visibility to enjoy the views.
If you have never climbed a peak, you will see that it really is a unique experience. Although we may not be as prepared and fit, it’s worth the extra effort and getting a little tired. It makes you feel more alive! The cadence of the steps, now seeing the trail, now looking up to choose the best access. See how the landscape changes.
We left the fields behind, the next stage goes through the forest. First they are oaks and holm oaks, then pines and firs. We move forward and the landscape becomes more open. Trees are scarcer and alpine meadows increasingly extensive. Height is one of the factors that determines what vegetation we find along the way.
A beautiful orchid is the reason for a short but welcome break. Let us not forget, however, that we have come to make the summit! The last few leads always weigh more, but once you get to the top, the fatigue wears off. We look around at other mountains, one after the other, each turning lighter blue. In the valley we can distinguish some roads and houses.
Civilization has been so far and is so small. Everyday problems are relative. Here we are far away, at the top, there is only bare rock. It touches the wind in the face, we open all the senses. We are alone in such greatness and we are very much alive!
