Les Angles, between authenticity and modernity
Nothing seemed to predestine the village of Les Angles, lulled by the bells of the cows and the long winter evenings, to become a village resort, particularly popular with families and young people. Fate sometimes depends on a few things …
At the beginning of the 1960s, the village was slowly dying. A few Englishmen did not see it that way and took the crazy gamble of creating a ski resort. On 1 January 1964, the ski resort opened!
With almost six hundred inhabitants all year round and a capacity of more than 18,000 beds, the ski resort of Les Angles marvellously mixes tradition and modernity.
An exceptional panorama, an exposure favourable to a good snow cover, slopes which arrive at the foot of the bell tower, a lively nightlife, quality infrastructures… Les Angles will seduce you with its many assets…
For many years, Les Angles has been doing everything possible to make your life easier: free shuttles, a motorhome area, wifi access in common areas, electric recharging points for cars, not forgetting the smartphone app, which is practical for saving time!
Because we also want you to feel good in our resort, we are certified in quality, safety, environment and energy.
The resort has also been Famille+ certified for many years… Here children are kings !
Les Angles innovates again… Creation of the Aqua bien-être ANGLEO, Balnéo & Spa. This space has been designed for relaxation. Come and live a dream where water, stone, wood and snow, imagination and pleasure mingle…
And for even more fun, winter 2020/21 will see the arrival of the “Lou Bac Mountain” rail sled… more than 2km of descent between forest and ski slopes…
Sensations guaranteed…

During the years of World War II (1939-1944) thousands of people crossed the Pyrenees in the direction of Spain fleeing Nazi barbarism or to join the Allied army in North Africa or England. The mountain passes became the silent witness of his odyssey to achieve freedom. It is estimated that between 60 and 80,000 escapees arrived in Spain during this period, defying the high peaks, adverse weather conditions and surveillance on both sides of the border. Several routes passed through the town of Sort, linking the French departments of Ariège and Haute-Garonne with the Pallars Sobirà. One of them is known as "El Camí de la Llibertat ", giving its name to the Prison-Museum, a cultural space that aims to make known what the escapes were and to pay tribute to all those who of the protagonist.

The Camí Oliba is a long-distance path (GR-151) that connects some of the most emblematic works of Catalan Romanesque art. It runs between Montserrat and the Pyrenees and passes through some of the most historic cities and towns in Old Catalonia, such as Ripoll and Sant Joan de les Abadesses. It crosses the inland and mid-mountain landscape of the inland counties in an undemanding itinerary and surrounded by high value-added tourist and commercial services. The Camí Oliba is a real museum in the middle of nature. It is art, culture and history in its essence, in spaces almost unchanged over time. It is a journey through the origins of Catalonia, when figures such as Bishop and Abbot Oliba decided to repopulate and Christianize these lands by planting them in churches and monasteries. The Association promotes this route which includes public and private services (accommodation, restaurants, guided tours …) as well as has an agreement with several receptive travel agencies in the territory that offer tourist packages. The product is aimed at a very specific target of hiking and culture lovers.

In 1929, the Folklore Museum Archive of Ripoll was founded, which was installed in the attic of the old church of Sant Pere and was the first in Catalonia dedicated to ethnography. Over the course of seventy years, he has collected, preserved, studied and disseminated the heritage of our region. The result is the Ethnographic Museum of Ripoll, which, after 10 years of rehabilitation, opens its doors again to continue preserving and enriching its collection and to show this legacy again, which helps us to understand a society from a material and immaterial marriage, of which we highlight the collections related to the shepherds, the peasantry, the trades, the popular religiosity, the Catalan forge and the wrought iron and the portable firearms of Ripolles. The new headquarters, inaugurated in March 2011, invites you to take a tour -interesting for young and old-, which allows you to discover the recent past and the identity of a territory and also recognize a way of living and feeling.

The Palau de l 'Abadia, former residence of the abbots, as we see it now, is the result of a long succession of constructions and reforms that began in the 14th century when the abbot Pere de Soler shaped the outbuildings of the Existing monastery, where he himself resided. It will be another abbot, Arnau de Vilalba, who in the 15th century will ennoble the house with Gothic style elements and the construction of the small cloister that connects the different parts of the Palace. Currently, the Palace of the Abbey, completely rehabilitated, houses the Tourist Office, the Interpretation Center of the Myth of Count Arnau, which is part of the project "Land of Counts and Abbots", the 'Espai Art l ' Abadia, the permanent exhibition of models "Romanesque, a tour of Ripollès " and a set of multipurpose rooms where a wide cultural program is established, such as conferences, presentations and various exhibitions.
