At the foot of the Sierra de Bellmunt Almenara, Penelles is the gateway to the southeast of the Noguera region, where the plain of Lleida begins. Today, Penelles can boast of being the town with the most murals per inhabitant in all of Catalonia thanks to the GarGar Festival. The festival of murals and rural art aims to provide the village with an injection of life and to combat depopulation. The initiative, which aims to spread artistic culture in the rural world, has made Penelles a benchmark. With a hundred murals distributed throughout the village, both local and international artists are valued, promoted and given visibility.

Penelles, the Street Art Village
With five editions of the GarGar festival, the town of Penelles today has 102 rural-themed murals spread throughout the town, which have turned it into a street museum. These can be seen on a morning or afternoon visit, in which you will combine a walk with friends or family, with art and rural atmosphere.
