During the years of World War II (1939-1944) thousands of people crossed the Pyrenees in the direction of Spain fleeing Nazi barbarism or to join the Allied army in North Africa or England. The mountain passes became the silent witness of his odyssey to achieve freedom. It is estimated that between 60 and 80,000 escapees arrived in Spain during this period, defying the high peaks, adverse weather conditions and surveillance on both sides of the border. Several routes passed through the town of Sort, linking the French departments of Ariège and Haute-Garonne with the Pallars Sobirà. One of them is known as "El Camí de la Llibertat ", giving its name to the Prison-Museum, a cultural space that aims to make known what the escapes were and to pay tribute to all those who of the protagonist.

Entrance to the historical space of the Prison-Museum and explanation of how for a few years (1936-1945), the crossing of the border became a vital goal for thousands of victims of war and repression. The fugitives from the dictatorships established on both sides starred in an epic that deserves to be remembered and preserved for future generations so that they know the need to protect peace and democracy, as well as their fragility. The audiovisual "Terra de Frontera" is also screened on the role of the Pyrenees between two wars, the Civil War and the Second World War. Approximate total duration, 45 'approx. Price: 3 € / person
