Mountain natural park, between 800 and 2,649m altitude. Between the counties of Alt Urgell, Berguedà and Cerdanya. It includes 17 municipalities. Area of 41,060 hectares, including the Natural Park of National Interest of the Pedraforca Massif. Declared an SCI, it is part of the European Natura 2000 Network. Great biodiversity with habitats and species of European interest, from Mediterranean habitats to Euro-Siberian, through Central European. Excellent space for the observation of the flora and fauna of high mountains, with outstanding species like the chamois, the roe deer, the deer, the marten, the marmot, the otter, the golden eagle, the woodpecker, the black woodpecker, the Pyrenean owl, the redstart, the white-winged sparrow, the little tick, the green and yellow snake, the viper, the green lizard, the salamander, the Pyrenean newt, river trout among many others.
Area for hiking with more than 450 kilometers of signposted trails (GR, PR, SL). Reception infrastructures, some of them adapted for people with reduced mobility: interpretation centers, viewpoints, recreational areas, shelters. Wide range of accommodation in its surroundings and interior (shelters, summer camps, hostels, hostels, hotels, apartments …). Climbing areas, mountain biking, road biking, caving, horses ……. Great cultural offer with museums, historical remains, rich intangible cultural heritage (fairs, traditions, popular festivals …..), extensive mountain gastronomic offer.
