Combine nature, history and the pleasures of the earth for a peaceful and tasty stay. If you like beautiful discoveries, villages with a soul and a history, if you appreciate good wines and good food, this is a rich and very pleasant stay for you. In terms of nature and the environment, you will discover the eco-park and you can even try out a bike ride… electric of course !

At your own pace, you will ride along both sides of the border, from the Agly valley to the Corbières to see the Cathar castles, among others, and then go back down to Besalú and Girona, with, as a common thread, the vines and their beverages.

Schedule and duration

Day 1 :

Afternoon : Arrival at your accommodation. Check-in from 2pm.
You have two options for the beginning of your stay:
– Go and meet nature and animals : Head for Cases-de-Pène to visit the Ecozonia animal park dedicated to predators. (For those who wish, you can go there by electric bike (optional), easy level. Approx. 15 km, with 140 m of ascent)
OR
– Head for Baixas for a guided tour of the Catalan Ecopark and then Baixas, a picturesque village in the Catalan hinterland with a rich history. You will discover the medieval vestiges, a true heritage of Catalan history, with, among other things, a church, a hermitage, walls and ramparts, an altarpiece… an invitation to travel, all told by a certified guide.
Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay

Day 2 :

Morning : Breakfast at the hotel. Then go to the Rivesaltes Memorial. The Memorial is a place of history and memories, open to the contemporary world, which gives an account of the traumas of the Spanish War, the Second World War and the wars of decolonisation. Visit with audioguide. Approximate duration: 2 hours
At the end of the morning, head for the Domaine Cazes, to discover the secrets of making natural sweet wines during a guided tour of the cellar, then go on to discover Biodynamic practices. Continue with a tasting of dry and sweet wines and finish with a meal at the estate restaurant.

Lunch : Lunch at the restaurant La Table d’Aimé. Smokehouse option: enjoy a natural sweet wine with a cigar in a specially designed area.

Afternoon : freetime. We suggest you several options:
– Visit of the historical centre of Rivesaltes
– Visit of Perpignan and Perpignan’s little train (guided visit possible as an option)
Return to the hotel, Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 :

Morning : Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out. Then departure for a wine tour at the Corbières. Accompanied by a guide passionate about vineyards for over thirty years, you will discover a typically Mediterranean landscape, and will be able to catch a glimpse of the Cathar castles, the Canigou and the Mediterranean. You will finish this walk by going to meet a family of winegrowers, who will allow you to deepen your knowledge around a VIP tasting of the PDO wines of the area.

Lunch: Freetime for lunch. Possibility of having box lunches delivered.

Afternoon : Direction Besalú, in Spain (1h10 drive). Freetime to visit the medieval village.
Then go to Girona for check-in at the hotel.
Freetime for dinner. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4 :

Morning : Breakfast at the hotel. Then check-out.
Freetime  to visit the city, renowned for its medieval architecture. Discover the old quarter (Barri Vell), the cathedral, the colourful buildings of the Onyar, the Jewish quarter.
Optional: guided tour of the city and tasting of xuixo, a typical Girona cake, and Ratafia, a Catalan liqueur made from over 40 herbs.
