The Eastern Pyrenees, Costa Brava, Côte Vermeille, Vallespir, Roussillon… Lands of sun, sea, and vineyards, of magnificent viewpoints and green-carpeted valleys, which have inspired countless artists. Great talents, particularly during the last two centuries, found in those landscapes and their quite villages a place to think, to feel, to create. Would you like to discover them?
From the ochres of Gósol to the Mediterranean blues, and through the green and golden of the Vallespir’s hillsides and the Rousillon’s vineyards, The Artists’ Routes will take you across the whole palette of the great artists who found their inspiration in these lands.
Driving from town to town, we will visit some of the main places renowned for attracting artists and taking them in for their creative stays. We will take you to discover these quiet villages of artistic retreat, and to visit art museums where to admire the fruits of these stays: Picasso, Dalí, Hyacinthe Rigaud, Miró, Aristide Maillol, Hugué, Matisse… Come dive into the life and work of some of the greatest artists and admire through their eyes the landscapes that inspired them! All of it while enjoying the great pleasures of these areas: unbelievable natural spaces, historical heritage of incalculable value, the Collioure anchovies, the Cadaqués sardines and “gairones”, wines and cheeses from Southern France… A treat for all senses!
