Discovery of local crafts

Take the time to watch, enjoy, learn, experiment, create… a fulfilling trip on both sides of the border. During these 4 days, you will discover and appreciate nature and local craft at your own pace. You will switch between stroll in some charming villages, forests discovery, gorges, and monuments with creative breaks.

Actually, you can try yourself to pottery, weaving, ceramic, enamel manipulation, … while discovering landscapes and panoramas in carriage, litlle train or by walking, that will make you wonderful memories. You can even leave with one of your creation …

Schedule and duration

Day 1 : Spain – Garrotxa for nature lovers or Empordà for craft lovers
Your begin your trip with two options :
• For nature lovers, on your way to the Garrotxa Park in the volcanic region of Olot. Programme of the day : visit of the Park’s forest by horse-drawn carriage. Then, you will go for a guided tour in a little train thought volcanos with the reproduction of the old carrilet that went from Olot to Girona.
• For craft lovers, let’s go to La Bisbal in the region of Empordà. Halfway between the city of Girona and the coastal municipalities of the Costa Brava, at the front of the Gavarres Natural Area, are nestled several small villages where time seems to have stopped. This is the case of La Bisbal, particularly known for the quality of its ceramic. You can contemplate the view from the castle-palace of the Bisbal, visit the Terracotta Museum, and stroll through the city to admire the work of ceramic craftsmen. You will have the opportunity to attend a guided tour of a ceramic workshop with demonstration and/or visit the Terracotta Ceramic Museum.
Accommodation in the Olot area. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 : Spain – Pezilla la Rivière – Baixas
Morning :
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for France on the way to Pézilla-la-Rivière. Discovery of the village with the exploration game of Pézilla-la-Rivière ” la coupe enchantée ” (intermediate level), or guided tour depending on your age.
Suggestions of visit: Cellera and Door of Revelli / Church of the Holy Hosts / Chapel Saint Saturnin / Canal of Pezilla / the fountain. By appointment, you can also visit the professional workshop of Pottery Chez Anne.

Lunch : Free time for lunch. Suggestions for restaurants : l’Aramon gourmand / La faim de loup / L’étoile gourmande / La pizzanaise.
Afternoon : Departure for Baixas. Introduction to weaving to learn how to weave and explore the world of materials. You will leave with your creation to frame or sew. 3 hours of workshop with a break.
Evening : Check-in at a bed and breakfast in Estagel or surroundings.  Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 : Calce / Perpignan
Morning: Breakfast in your establishment.  Departure for Calce, a charming village. Pottery initiation workshop from 9:30 am to 12 pm.
Lunch : Lunch at your leisure. Suggestion: the presbytery (Calce) or lunch at Perpignan : La sous-préfète / L’assiette catalane / Torcatis (Burger) / l’Esperanto (pitas)/ Bella ciao (Italian).
Afternoon: Two options :
– Free visit of the village. The castle of Las Fonts, the castle of Calce, the church of Saint Paul the old and the parish church of Saint Paul.
OR
– Direction downtown Perpignan for free discovery of the city (cathedral, palace of the kings of Majorca, Castillet…), or to participate in a ceramic enamelling discovery workshop, from 2pm to 5pm (Saint Vincens district).
Return to the accommodation, dinner in a bistro or table d’hôtes and night

Day 4 : Tautavel
Morning : Breakfast at the hotel. Check out.
Discover the Chemin des Bacs in Tautavel: This circuit, in balcony through the hills of Tautavel, is partly shaded. It joins the gorges of Gouleyrous for a break at the water’s edge and the Caune of Arago. You will also walk along the Verdouble river (Duration 2h30 / 7.7km / easy level / difference in altitude 215 m)
Lunch  : Free time for lunch. Suggestions : Restaurant Can Fabre (traditional and Catalan cuisine), Restaurant El Silex (tapas bar, Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine), Restaurant le For’hom (organic and Catalan Mediterranean cuisine), Restaurant Le Petit Gris (Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine, barbecue).
